Le plexiglas, pourquoi pas? •• Plexiglas, why not?

Utilisé notamment pour la fabrication de mobilier et d’objets déco, le plexiglas a plus d’une corde à son arc. Il laisse circuler la lumière, est extrêmement résistant, il peut amener couleur et originalité dans une pièce, et il est bon marché.

Je n’aurais jamais pensé avoir un coup de foudre pour ce matériau. Je le trouvais un poil ennuyeux mais je ne m’y étais en fait jamais vraiment intéressée. C’était avant de tomber sur ces visuels :

I would never have thought to have a crush for anything related to this material. I found it rather boring, but had actually never put much interest in it. This was before happening upon those visuals:

Ici, l’habitant des lieux amène une toute nouvelle dimension visuelle à son intérieur en plaçant simplement une plaque de plexiglas rose entre la cuisine et la salle à manger. Il fallait y penser, c’est brillant. En voyant ces images je me suis dit « il voit la vie en rose! ». Un vrai coup de coeur. Je vous invite d’ailleurs à aller visiter le reste de l’appartement, il est fabuleux : il n’y en a pas deux comme lui.

Je me suis par la suite penchée sur le potentiel de ce matériau que j’avais sous-estimé. J’ai découvert notamment qu’il était ambivalent, discret et élégant quand on utilise sa version incolore, piquant et surprenant dans n’importe quelle autre teinte. Ce qui m’amène à vous présenter différentes idées pour l’amener chez soi.

•• Here, the inhabitant of the spot managed to bring a whole new visual dimension to its space, thanks to a simple pink plexi between the kitchen and the dining room. It was a simple enough idea, somebody just had to think of it. I thought to myself « this guy sees the life through rose-coloured glasses! ». A real crush, it is brilliant. I invite you to visit all the apartment, it is fabulous, no two are alike.

I then decided to do some research on this material that I had underestimated. I discovered that it was ambivalent, discreet and elegant when colorless; spicy and surprising when used in any color. Which brings me to present you some ideas on how to invite it over.

Voilà un bon projet DIY ! Le plexiglas incolore pour donner un effet de légèreté en faisant flotter les objets qu’on y pose, ou en couleur pour donner un coup de fouet à un mur.

Je ne voulais pas vous présenter la chaise Ghost que vous connaissez tous. À la place, un joli fauteuil fluo et une table basse qui sait se faire discrète, idéale dans un petit espace.

3. Séparateur d’espace •• Visual separator

Une plaque de plexiglas pour séparer visuellement deux espaces supplantera-t-elle un jour la sur-sollicitée verrière? Je n’ai pas la réponse mais en attendant c’est rafraîchissant de voir quelque chose de différent.

•• Will plexiglass plates replace one day the overloaded industrial separators? I don’t have the answer but in the meantime it is refreshing to see something a bit different.
